Three major parties agree to present new bill on Reconstruction Authority

Three major political parties—Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML) and UCPN (Maoist)—have agreed to present a new bill on National Reconstruction Authority in the next meeting of Parliament on September 15 by making some changes in the structure of the authority.


As per the consensus reached among the leaders of three parties, a new draft of the bill will be prepared by Wednesday based on discussions among the three parties and present it in the parliament in the next meeting, according to the participants at the meeting.

Law Minister Narahari Acharya, Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, UCPN (Maoist) leader Agni Sapkota, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Janak Raj Joshi,  National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-chairman Govinda Raj Pokharel attended the meeting.

 After ordinance on Reconstruction Authority was not endorsed through a Replacement Bill in the Parliament, the reconstruction process became uncertain.
