Needs and importance of family health Almost all of the people in the world live in their family. They eat, drink, dress up, entertain, exercise, and rest at home with their family members. All the factors affecting and determining the status of health are maintained within the families.
There are very important roles of the family members and family health strategies. Family health is a major influencing factor of everybody health. All the family members should contribute for the improvement of better family health.
Family health is the basis of both the personal and community health. A country becomes healthy by having family health. It is very important because it includes the most essential aspects of human health like safe motherhood, family planning, healthy food practices, prevention from addiction and alcoholism, safety measures. There is needs and importance of family health for us to: Improve the family status of family members. Provide proper care to the diseased members in the family. Immunize children according to the recommended immunization schedule. Care pregnant mothers in the right ways. Care infants, children, elderly, and disabled members in the family. Develop the techniques to prepare balanced diet for all of the family. Safe the family members from communicable and infectious diseases. Manage safe drinking water in the family. Maintain harmonious relationships among the family members. Take right moves in different health hazards and accidents in the family. Maintain indoor and outdoor cleanliness at home. Eliminate the superstitious beliefs and wrong health practices. Factors of family health There are various factors of the family health. They are the elements determining family health. Some of the factors are family planning, safe motherhood, maternal and child health care, family nutrition, prevention from infectious diseases, and immunization. Family planning It is the technique of maintaining the family size in the desired limit. A small family ensures happiness and harmony. If there are more family members they may not have adequate food and health facilities. Safe motherhood Safe motherhood is the process of protecting pregnant, delivering mother from various health problems. It is the responsibility of the family to protect her health during her pregnant period by managing nutritious and balanced diet, necessary immunization, and keeping her safe from physical exertions. Child health care A child takes birth in his or her family. It is a prime duty of its family to manage all favorable circumstances for healthy survival of the newborn. Family must assist the mother to help the newborn. Children should not be deprived of any of the immunizations. Child nutrition Children do not know about the balanced and nutritious diet. They are just concerned about the satisfaction of their hunger and taste of the food items. Family members must be conscious about supplying nutritious and balanced diet. Prevention of infectious and communicable diseases. Infectious and communicable diseases create problematic situations in the family sometimes. They communicate quickly to other healthy members. There must be proper knowledge about the mode of communication of diseases and preventive measures against such diseases. Dysentery, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, cholera, and scabies are some of the most prevalent communicable diseases in Nepalese family. Family members must be conscious about sanitation and personal hygiene.
